The gear meta is so out of whack right now though I personally can't advocate for adding a ton more suits and weaponry except for filling the various racial dropsuit holes (Caldari heavies, Amarr light suits, etc) and the missing rifles, sidearms. Even that much will require a great deal of work (at the pace CCP has corrected imbalances) to get to a healthy place. Like I said, I love the idea of new toys but I just really need to see the current ones fixed. The sooner the designers working with gear open up to the CPM and the community about future designs and get explicit feedback in a timely fashion to ensure that gear arrives in good order (like the Scrambler Rifle did), than we can proceed forward. I'm mostly focused on establishing productive processes here, something sustainable that can be repeated for ALL the endless toys CCP can build later.
First off, balancing cannot happen without the basic layout of all the faction variations, so why do this piece by piece? And you think the scrambler rifle came out ok? What about the fact that it is being out-ranged by blaster tech?? Doesn't seem to be in good condition as of yet, just tolerable.
As for explicit feedback in a timely fashion: we all know that is NOT THE CASE. What so ever. The people working on the gear and tech need to shite or get off the pot as for the basic spread of gear and suits and get those in front of the player base so as to ensure that they are ALL tuned together, no in this current piece-meal fashion.
The current process is SLOW (slower than two snails screwing on a salted floor to be exact, or maybe it is like pond water; STAGNANT), frustrating, uncommunicative at times (if not a great deal of the time) and fervently heavy handed in the use of the nerf and buff hammers. This manic swing is unhealthy as psychiatric professionals will tell you.
I will say that I agree with you in NOT adding anything more than the basic meta of the gear and their racial variants, but again, the dev team working on this and us as a player base ACTUALLY playing with the toys cannot help in the balancing issue if we have NOTHING to balance them with, i.e., comparative understanding and analysis. |
